"A true painter is one who can paint extraordinary scenes in the middle of an empty desert. A true painter is one who can patiently paint a pear in the midst of the tumults of history." -Salvador Dali, Spanish Surrealist Painter (1904-1989)
Salvador Dali is one of the most impressive artists of the 20th century. He started painting at the age of 10, and studied many artistic styles including Impressionsim, Post-Impressionism, Futurism, Cubism, Neo-Classicism, and Realism before finding Surrealism. After painting some of the most well-known surrealist paintings, Dali went on to create his own unique art, such as the works done during his "Nuclear and Atomic" Period and in the "Nuclear Mysticism" style. In the 1960s he experimented with Pop and Op Art and Abstract Expressionism. Dali was also one of the most diverse artists of the 20th century, using not only paint on canvas, but jewelry, clothing and even perfume to create art.
